Many of our course materials and resources are provided as files that you can download to your computer so that you can access them at any time and print them out.

Different computers will behave in different ways when downloading files from the Internet. Sometimes you will prompted to save the file, other times the file will open up straight away. We recommend that you follow the steps below so that your materials are downloaded to your computer.
Download Instructions

You should always download files to your computer before viewing or playing them:

  1. Right click on the 'Download File' or 'Play Audio File' link - i.e. use the right mouse button to click on the link (or the left mouse button if you are using a left handed mouse.) A menu of options should appear.

  2. Select the option 'Save Target As...' or 'Save Link Target As...' and a 'Save As' dialog box should appear.

  3. Select a folder to download the file to by using the menu labeled 'Save in'.

  4. Click the 'Save' button and the file will be downloaded to the specified folder. This make take a minute or two depending on the speed of your Internet connection.

  5. You can the browse the folder and open up the file from there.

If you have any problems downloading files then please contact us for help.

Always download the audio files first by following the instructions given at the top of this page.

Audio files are provided in the Windows Media Audio (WMA) format. You will need Windows Media Player to listen to these files.

Get Windows Media Player If you do not have Microsoft Windows Media Player then download it for FREE

You may require a license to play certain files. If so please follow the instructions below:

  1. Open the file in Microsoft Windows Media Player.

  2. If it prompts you to go to the Microsoft website, click 'Yes' to open the web page.

  3. On the web page click the 'Download License' button as shown in screenshot 1 below.

  4. If you are prompted, or you see an error message when trying to store your license, you will need to run a special add-on. Look for a strip along the top of the website (see screenshot 2 below) and click on it. Click the option 'Run ActiveX Control' and when prompted click 'Run'.

  5. If the license has been stored correctly you will see the following message: "A license has been downloaded to your computer. You may use the file" (see screenshot 3 below)

  6. Go back to Windows Media Player and click the 'Play' button.
